Purpose: Electric system planners benefit from maps of physical assets (e.g. transformers, substations). Map visualizations of current/future network load and capacity help identify areas of risk and improvement. Mapping massive amounts of information require both modern technology and approaches, as well as intuitive and highly performant end-user applications.
Implementation: Eichcorp collaborated with a talented team to design and develop a web mapping application which truly transformed how planners at the utility visualize electric distribution networks. Implementation technologies included: AWS, Angular, deck-gl, and mapbox-gl.
Purpose: While a list of required power and broadband infrastructure geospatial data layers had been compiled, the organization required help automating the download, transformation, and compilation of these data into Esri geodatabase format and template ArcGIS Pro project to support downstream workflows including analysis and mapping.
Implementation: Eichcorp implemented a map data extraction and conversion process using Overpass API, Python, and Esri ArcPy, improving the speed and accuracy of the organization's mapping and analysis workflows.
